Why support is needed
Operating an integrated civic-data platform — across Congress, executive agencies, courts, state legislatures, and donor networks — requires ongoing engineering, verification, and infrastructure investment. We do not paywall public-interest data, so the work depends on donor, member, and grant support.
What donations fund
- Ingestion pipelines and database storage for federal, state, and judicial sources.
- Editorial review, methodology updates, and corrections.
- Watchdog tools and public-facing search.
- Security, audit logs, and compliance.
- Responsible-AI safeguards: source-trail capture, human review, model disclosure, and a corrections/appeals path.
Individual giving
Online giving is not yet configured for direct or tax-deductible processing. These buttons open a message to support@vigildata.org so we can route your contribution directly and confirm the current donation pathway.
VigilData does not yet represent donations as tax-deductible. See financial transparency for the current legal status.
Other ways to support
- Become a member. Recurring support keeps the data current.
- Fund a dataset. Sponsor coverage of a specific area (e.g. state lobbying, judicial disclosures).
- Sponsor AI Watchdog safeguards. Underwrite source verification, human review, and responsible-AI tooling.
- Support state-level expansion. Help extend coverage from federal to state legislatures.
- Partner with us. Newsrooms, universities, and civic-tech groups can collaborate on shared data needs.
Donor independence
VigilData declines donations that come with conditions on coverage, priorities, or conclusions. Significant donors are disclosed in line with our donor-disclosure threshold. VigilData's policy is to not rely on any single funder for more than one-third of its operating budget where feasible. See governance for details.
For funders
Funder due-diligence materials, grant-opportunity scoping, and a funder alignment brief are at /for-funders. Grant inquiries: grants@vigildata.org.
